Normal User Journey
Guide Rule
The end-user path should be navigable by task and outcome, not by backend or provider terminology. If a normal user must understand internal implementation details to finish a task, the guide is still incomplete.
Surface Classes
| Surface | Reader expectation |
|---|---|
| UX pages | complete the task through the product shell |
| Help / walkthrough | explain the flow, prerequisites, and recovery path |
| Troubleshooting | explain what to do when the normal path fails |
| Technical reference | only when the reader intentionally leaves the user path |
Task Coverage
| Flow | User-visible entry | Guide page | Screenshot coverage | UAT expectation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sign in and select context | browser app login, top context bar | Account and Access | needed | user can identify active organization/project |
| Set up MFA | Account -> Security | MFA Walkthrough | captured for current kind path | user can add a first authenticator |
| Manage or recover MFA | Account -> Security | MFA Walkthrough | partially captured | user can see manage, recovery, and support-assisted removal posture |
| Launch compute or app | Workloads / Apps / Compute | Launch and Operate | needed | user can launch, connect, inspect status, and stop/release |
| Connect to workload | workload detail, terminal, app route, SSH | Launch and Operate | needed | user can reach the expected runtime surface |
| Manage storage and billing | Storage / Billing | Billing and Storage | needed | user can understand quota, spend, and storage attachment state |
| Tenant administration | Access / Account / Platform surfaces | Tenant Administration | needed | tenant admin can manage members, roles, and project posture |
| Troubleshoot blocked flow | page-local error, status badge, recovery path | Troubleshooting | needed | user can find owner/action without internal provider jargon |
Product Acceptance Rule
The guide is acceptable when a product owner can start from this page and complete the main user/admin workflows without reading raw implementation docs. Provider details can exist in technical sections, but the main path must remain task-oriented.
Remaining Product-Guide Backlog
- MFA setup, backup, remove, and recovery flow coverage
- clearer difference between normal user, tenant admin, and platform admin paths
- less inline prose on UX pages; move explanatory content into guide/help surfaces
- screenshot-backed coverage for launch, connect, storage, billing, tenant admin, and troubleshooting flows
